CODED: Digital Art that Defies Definition // Lincoln Museum
A digital art exhibition composed of four distinct artworks with four different interactions. Based on the original artworks "Binary Garden (2017)” and "Island Series (2021)" and enhanced by a custom soundtrack composed by Bent Stamnes, the exhibition pushes the limits of perception and invites you to explore the extraordinary complexities that emerge from the fusion of art, technology, and sound. Inspired by demoscene, "CODED" sheds light on how far you can push simple elements to build complex organic systems out of binary code.
Binary Garden (2017): The Binary Garden seeks to explore interplay between humans and algorithm patterns in an interactive format. The system is made up of a collection of patterns within infinitely scalable artwork. It is explored via a touch interaction and an audio reactivity stations.
Island Series (2021): This installation is part portal and part time machine. This concept imagines an ancient world of abstract animals and new vertebrates on an interactive canvas. We invite the audience to enter the digital space through their avatars, generate and interact with the creatures that are spawned inside, and see them interact with each other. Segmented walkers, tendrilled creatures, and neon arthropods dance with human-controlled avatars, creating an artwork within the artwork. It is explored via a hand tracking and a body tracking stations.
